We are always anxious to recruit new members and players and our Club Secretary would like to hear from you if you are interested in this excellent sport for ALL ages.
LOOKING BACK ON 2017
A very successful season for all our teams. The Ladies regained their title in their division of South Wales & Mon. The MBA team finished 4th in the Division 1 of the MBA Leagues - the best ever result for the Club - well done to Captain Pete and all the team. The GBL were fantastic and won Division 1, regaining our title as the best GBL side in the County. Doing this by rotating players to give all our guys a game is a credit to Captain Mike and the team of Selectors. OSL also did well coming in as runners up - but only 1 point off the title. Our clubs commitment to the game is emphasised by the fact the the day after our green closes we go up the Valleys to play our final MBA league game.
Friendly games continue to be an outstanding success. The Triples format seems to suit everyone and travelling to all corners of Bristol, Somerset and Gloucester in addition to locally, give that added interest. Thank you all for supporting right through the season. Dave is arranging additional games for next season!!
We are already planning for 2018 with visits to Porthcawl and hosting Weston Super Mare, Bath and a team from Basingtoke. Lets hope we get the weather.
We do need younger players and although we have a "large" membership, many of us are getting on in years - so please if you know some youngsters (relatively) who could be persuaded to take up the game bring then in for a taster session - free,
Both the Ladies Secretary & Mens Secretary Mary & Peter Shapland are retiring this year and we wish them all the best for the future. Their dedication to the club over more than 20 years cannot be questioned and they stand down with our sincere thanks and good wishes.
Friendly Games - Stacks of opportunities to play Friendly games, both Triples and Fours. Competitive but friendly encounters take us across into Bristol, Gloucestershire and Royal Forest of Dean. Also games in Cardiff and the Valleys.
